Vatican will require visitors to carry 'Green Pass' beginning in October

The Vatican will require visitors to carry a "Green Pass" demonstrating proof of vaccination or a negative COVID-19 test beginning Oct. 1.

Visitors will need to present either a Vatican Green Pass, a European Green Pass, or a foreign COVID-19 Green Pass proving vaccination or recovery from COVID-19. Visitors who show a negative molecular or antigenic test will also be allowed entry.

The new safety precautions come after Pope Francis requested that every safety measure be taken against the virus, according to Vatican News.

An exception to the rule will be granted to those attending mass, but only “for the time strictly necessary for the celebration.” During mass, health regulations including social distancing, use of hygiene, and use of personal protective equipment will need to be implemented.
