Jeffrey Epstein prison guards who slept while he 'committed suicide' planned to tell court that falsifying records was routine.

The prison guards who slept while Jeffrey Epstein hanged himself planned to defend themselves as scapegoats of a dysfunctional system if they had gone to trial, sources have revealed.

Tova Noel and Michael Thomas, who admitted sleeping and browsing the internet instead of watching the billionaire pedophile the night he killed himself in his New York jail cell, last week avoided time behind bars in exchange for their cooperation and community service.

The pair had been charged with lying on prison records to make it seem as though they had made required checks on the sex offender before he was found in his cell in August 2019.

Sources close to the pair and insiders at the Metropolitan Correctional Center said prosecutors may have backed off because falsification of documents is common at the jail and at the Bureau of Prisons, according to the New York Daily News.

One person said that falsely filling out paperwork is 'closer to a norm than an anomaly' in federal prisons.
