Chauvin trial verdict: Jury finds officer guilty on three charges

The jury in the trial of Derek Chauvin announced its verdicts Tuesday afternoon (US time), convicting the former Minneapolis police officer accused of killing George Floyd of second-degree murder, third-degree murder and second-degree manslaughter. Deliberations took less than one day.

Deliberations concluded after the prosecution and defense teams presented nearly six hours of closing arguments that focused on vastly different views about the circumstances that led to Floyd's death in May outside Cup Foods in Minneapolis.
