Nigerians react as Muslims visit church to celebrate Christmas with Christians .

In a move that is uncommon in this part of the world, some Muslim members have discarded tradition and joined Christians to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ.

Those involved in this move are members of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria known as Shia, Nasarawa state branch, Tribune reports. They visited Evangelical Reformed Church of Christ (ERCC), Graceland Lafia, Nasarawa state to show their solidarity with its Christian population, Tribune reports. 

According to Mallam Muhammad Amin, leader of the Islamic group, the members were at the church to pray for the healing of the country and Nasarawa state in particular as well as rejoice with Christians on the celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ. According to him, the birth of Jesus Christ was significant to mankind hence the need for them to rejoice together in love as enshrined in the Holy books adding that the two major religions believe that Jesus Christ is the true Messiah. Meanwhile, this move has generated diverse reactions on social media with many people praising the Islamic members.
