Pretending to like substandard work or distasteful ideas will only get
you in trouble.
Speak the truth, but prepare for temporary frostiness to
descend on this relationship. It's likely this person will feel
criticized, even though they asked for your sincere thoughts. If you
avoid an answer altogether, though, you'll undermine your reputation for
honesty. Just keep it simple. Offer one or two constructive suggestions
on what can be improved, then include some genuine praise to help
soften the blow.
