Court martial orders immediate dismissal of Major General Otiki .

A military court has ordered the dismissal of a Nigerian Army general, Major Gen Hakeem Oladapo Otiki, from service with disgrace and dishonour.

The court-martial delivered the judgment on Monday, June 15, after it found General Otiki guilty of five counts of theft of public property disobedience to service orders, among others, Vanguard newspaper reported.
In addition to his dismissal, the military court ruled that the Otiki’s rank be reduced from major general to brigadier general.
The court also ordered that the N135.8 million and $6,600 recovered by the special investigation bureau as well as the N150 million stolen money which could not be accounted for be returned to the coffers of the Nigerian Army.
It added that all the sentences are subject to the approval of the appropriate convening authority.
Major Gen Hakeem Oladapo Otiki was the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 8 Division of the Nigerian Army Sokoto.
In July 2019, he was placed under house arrest and moved to Abuja after five soldiers belonging to his escort absconded with 400 million naira while providing security services for a very important personality to Kaduna.
